Today we get to share some good news. Coach Kim has been promoted to General Manager of True North Jiu-Jitsu.

If you train here, you already know her. Coach Kim is a purple belt and a fixture of our women's self-defense and kids classes, and she is usually the first person a brand-new student meets. She is the one who walks you to the edge of the mat on day one, finds you a partner, and makes the whole thing feel a lot less intimidating than it looked from the parking lot.

What the Role Means

As General Manager, Coach Kim now looks after the day-to-day running of the academy alongside her coaching: schedules, memberships, new-student onboarding, and the general business of making sure the place works for the people in it. She is not stepping off the mats. She is just taking on more of what she has quietly been doing anyway.

For students and parents, the practical version is simple. If you have a question about your membership, your child's class, or getting started, Coach Kim is the person to ask.

Why It Matters to Us

Culture at a jiu-jitsu gym is not an accident. It is built by the people who notice when someone has been away for two weeks, who remember a kid's name on their second class, who make sure the new person is not standing alone. Coach Kim has been doing that work for years, and this promotion is the academy catching up to it.

Her leadership, dedication, and passion inspire us every day. Thank you for everything you do for our students, our team, and the culture you have helped build here.

Congratulations, Coach Kim. Oss.
